Community Facilities

Note that funding is fully allocated under this measure at present – please get in touch to discuss opportunities under the forthcoming programme.

The Rural Development (LEADER)  Programme addresses quality of life issues, including the availability of services and facilities that contribute to the quality of life in rural communities. It is also aimed at enhancing the environmental and amenity aspects of rural villages, towns and communities.

LEADER provides direct funding to communities to develop their facilities through the “Village Renewal” and “Basic Services” funding categories.

  • Community infrastructure initiatives including the development of community playgrounds, forest parks, picnic areas, sculpture park/garden, civic areas, riverside walks and community gardens.
  • Support for tidy towns and litter awareness initiatives.
