Volunteer Laois has been set up as part of the Local and Community Development Programme (LCDP). This programme is designed to counter disadvantage and to promote equality and social and economic inclusion. The LCDP programme works with unemployed people, older people, young people, one parent families, people with disabilities, low income families, Travellers and volunteers.

Under the new volunteer scheme, volunteers can find out more about volunteering without having to make a commitment and can get advice and support on opportunities to suit them.

Meanwhile, organisations and community groups can advertise for volunteer vacancies, they can get information, advice and support on working with volunteer staff, and they will receive assistance with volunteer policies and procedures.
