Client Barrowline Cruisers - Philip and Orla Crean

Project Description

Barrowline Cruisers is a friendly family-owned and operated narrowboat hire company based on the Grand Canal at Vicarstown, Co. Laois. Their well equipped base is ideally located to allow you explore the full extent of both the Grand Canal and River Barrow.

Cruising north from Vicarstown you travel the Barrowline section of the Grand Canal. This links with the Grand Canal main line at Lowtown. From here you can travel east towards Dublin or west to the mighty Shannon and beyond. An ideal haven for the novice, simply relax and enjoy the passing countryside as its tranquil waters gently guide you on your way.

Cruising to the south from Vicarstown you enter the river Barrow at Athy. The scenery here is much different and the waters more lively. Cruising enthusiasts who have sampled other waterways are now turning to Barrow to meet the challenge of this exciting river. In choosing to cruise these waters your every sense will be rewarded as the unspoilt beauty of the Barrow valley grows with each and every passing mile…

They received start-up funding from Laois Partnership (then Laois LEADER) to purchase and fit out two barges.

Business is run by Philip and his wife Orla Crean.
