TÚS Work Placement Scheme: call for applications from community groups in Laois

Are you a Community Group, a Sporting or Cultural organisation? Do you have project or a scheme that you would like to see delivered but cannot source the workers to do it? Well if you are willing to come up with the idea Laois Partnership Company may have the solution for you.

The TÚS Initiative is a community work placement scheme providing short-term working opportunities for unemployed people, who can utilise their skills to work on specific community based projects. Suggestions and ideas from Community, Cultural, Sporting or Social groups are now being sought to organise the work in the Laois area.

Laois Partnership is currently seeking applications from community groups for work projects to be carried out by participants under the RSS/TÚS Schemes.  All work projects must be compatible with the objectives of these schemes and fit in with the following categories.

  • Maintaining and enhancing way marked ways, agreed walks and bog roads
  • Energy conservation work for the elderly and less well off
  • Village and countryside enhancement projects
  • Social care of the elderly, community care for both pre-school and after-school groups
  • Environmental maintenance work – maintenance and caretaking of community and sporting facilities
  • Projects relating to not for profit cultural and heritage centres
  • Any other appropriate community project identified by Laois Partnership.

Responsibility for the operation of the RSS/TÚS will rest with Laois Partnership co and the Department of Social Protection.
