Climate Action

Turning Laois into a green county

Support for improving or starting a climate action project

Climate change is the greatest threat facing the modern world, with extreme weather conditions and rising sea levels causing destruction across the globe. As a member EU nation, Ireland is committed to implementing policies to increase our use of renewable energy and reduce the waste of natural resources that future generations will rely on.

While a global effort is needed to address these challenges, even action taken at a community level can have a positive effect on the quality of life for all of society. Laois Partnership Company believes that with everyone working together towards a shared vision of climate action and just transition, we can do our bit to reduce CO2 levels and make the planet a safer place.

Among the schemes and projects we support with the aim of improving the county’s carbon footprint are community allotments and gardens, biodiversity meadows, and the rewilding of local areas that have fallen into disarray.
