Rural Recreation Officer

 

Laois Partnership Company is the Local Development Company which delivers the Rural Development Programme (LEADER), the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP) and a range of ancillary programmes in Co Laois.

 

The company wishes to invite applications for the post of Rural Recreation Officer with responsibility for co-ordinating maintenance and management of walking trails and assisting with marketing and promotion of walking in the Slieve Bloom and Offaly Ways.

 

Candidates should have a good knowledge of and interest in walking route management and promotion, have an understanding of the needs of tourists and the tourism industry, should have some experience in rural/community development work, be a good communicator, self-motivated and have the ability to work effectively with a network of individuals and organisations.

 

A third level qualification in one of the above disciplines, while not essential is desirable.  Excellent Computer Skills are essential and knowledge of GIS applications such as ArcGIS is desirable.

A full clean driving licence and own transport is essential.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
