Purr-fect event for animal lovers with Laois SPCA

Laois Partnership Company, in partnership with Laois SPCA, organised a heartwarming coffee morning at the Clochar Centre in Rathdowney. The event was filled with smiles, cuddles, and lively chats about animal welfare, bringing together a community of people who share a passion for caring for animals.

Laois SPCA is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and neglected animals while also promoting responsible pet ownership through education and advocacy. Their work is only possible through the support of volunteers, who help with fostering, fundraising, transporting animals, and assisting at events. Those interested in getting involved can reach out via the Laois SPCA website, social media, or community events like this coffee morning. Volunteering provides not only the satisfaction of helping animals but also the opportunity to connect with like-minded people and become part of a caring, supportive community.

This sense of connection, purpose, and shared passion is closely linked to the goals of the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP). SICAP aims to support individuals and communities, helping them build confidence, skills, and meaningful social connections. Volunteering with Laois SPCA provides an opportunity to engage in rewarding community work, reducing isolation and enhancing mental well-being. The act of caring for animals is known to have a positive emotional impact, offering comfort and reducing stress. By participating in initiatives like this, individuals not only help vulnerable animals but also build stronger connections within their community, reinforcing the positive impact of SICAP.

The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) is co-funded by the Irish Government, through the Department of Rural and Community Development, and the European Union, through the European Social Fund Plus under the Employment, Inclusion, Skills and Training (EIST) Programme 2021 -2027.
