Pauline Flanagan works as a lecturer in South East Technological University (SETU Carlow) – formerly IT Carlow. She holds a doctorate in higher education, a Masters in Public Relations and a BA in Theology and Economics. She lectures in Public Relations, Marketing, Public Affairs and Sports Sponsorship at SETU.
She is active in a voluntary capacity in numerous Laois community groups, including at board level at Laois Partnership, Youth Work Ireland Laois (YWIL), Laois Volunteer Centre (LVC), and Laois Traveller Action Group (LTAG), in addition to being an active member of Laois Integration Network (LIN) and the Portlaoise St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. She was also part of a Laois cohort who completed a collaborative project in 2024 with Laois County Council and Trinity College in relation to a project for Portlaoise on Carbon, Climate and Community.
Pauline enjoys being part of Portlaoise GAA Mothers & Others as well as singing in the Portlaoise Parish Choir and being a member of her local residents association.
Pauline has a keen interest in politics and was co-opted as a Fianna Fáil Councillor onto Laois County Council in 2018 and has run in the 2019 local Laois election and in the 2020 general election with Fianna Fail. She ran as an independent candidate in the 2024 local Laois election.
She is proud to be a board member of Laois Partnership and looks forward to continuing to bring her PR, communications and public affairs expertise to the board.
Pauline is originally from a farming background in County Limerick and now loves living in Portlaoise, where she is married to Gerry Flanagan. They have three children, Meghan, Frank and Paul Flanagan.
