Durrow Walks featured on RTE's Tracks and Trails Programme

Track and Trails: Durrow Leafy Loop

Ann Lanigan and Sean Conroy show Liz McManus the secrets of the Leafy Loop which is a 16K loop walk starting from Durrow Castle in Laois.

The new Tracks and Trails TV Series has returned again this year to RTE. The second programme was shown last Friday evening and featured Connemara featured the Leafy Loop walsk  in Durrow, Co. Laois.  Retired Politian Liz Mc Manus  takes in a 16K route from Durrow Castle in Laois to the highest point in the area The Ballagh. The trail head begins near the gates of Durrow Castle and meanders in a loop around the town taking in the highest vantage point in the area. During her walk on this leafy loop Liz hikes a woodland path that loops around to the River Nore.

Ms. Ann Lanigan, Rural Recreational Officer with Laois Partnership , and local historian Sean Conroy feature in the programme. The views from here in all directions are stunning and this walk is approximately 16km long. Laois County Council & Bord nn Móna contributed to the making of this programme, which is well worth watching.
