Peter O Neill Chairperson of Laois Partnership Company has welcomed the news that Laois will get a full volunteer centre in the County. Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development Sean Kyne made the announcement last week that he is to prioritise the transitioning of the existing part time Laois Volunteering Information Service into a full centre.
Laois Volunteering Information Service is currently been run by Laois Partnership Company. Peter O Neill the Chairperson of the Partnership Company said that they have been running a part time service for a number of years and that from 2019 the provision of a full time service is to be welcomed as it will allow Volunteering to grow in the county. Through the part time service Laois Partnership Company are currently delivering a befriending of the Elderly service and also volunteer led English language classes for foreign nationals seeking to learn English under the Failte Isteach Programme.
